The Awana Grand Prix is similar to the Cub Scout’s Pinewood Derby. Each year parents and clubbers work together to build a new car from an Awana car kit. There are two kinds of kits: Precut (Indy or Stockcar) and Uncut. Although the Awana kits are very similar to the Cub Scout kits, you must use an Awana kit. A set of rules will be given with the car kits.

This year the Grand Prix will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2010 in the Fellowship Hall. Registration will begin at noon with the Program and Races at 1:00  PM. Clubbers and Leaders must be in uniform to participate.

There are two race divisions: Clubbers and Others (anyone else who wants to build and race a car). In addition to the Speed races, each car will also be judged for design. Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place in each category.

Unofficial weight and size trials and practice track runs will be the night before from 6:30-8:00 PM.

It is anticipated that one or two car building workshops will be held to help parents and clubbers who might be “Grand Prix Car Building challenged”. Parental help is highly encouraged. (Cubbies often win in both categories.)
