Awana is an acrostic from Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed (2 Timothy 2:15, KJV).
Awana is an international, non-denominational, Bible-centered organization for children that is divided into age related groups or “clubs”. Awana is open to all boys and girls of the community
regardless of church affiliation.
Awana Meetings at First Baptist of Edgewater
Awana meets almost every Sunday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM during the school year. The meetings begin and end in the Fellowship Hall. It is important for the clubbers to be on time. Clubbers who arrive before 5:00 PM receive a bonus “On Time” Awana buck.
The Awana meeting consists of six parts: Opening Ceremony, Handbook Time, Counsel Time, Game Time, Snack Time and Closing. All of the clubbers are together for opening and closing ceremonies as well as the “Clubbers’ Surprise” events.
The order of the other events varies with each club. Handbook and Counsel Times take place in the individual club’s rooms. Game Time and Snack Time usually occur in the Fellowship Building. Clubbers work on their individual handbooks with their leaders and helpers during Handbook Time. During Counsel Time they listen to an age-appropriate Bible lesson. Light snacks are served during Snack Time. Special provision is made for the clubbers with food allergies and intolerances. For the safety of our clubbers, we require the parents to come into the Fellowship Hall to pick up their clubbers at the end of the evening.
Every night has a special feature, many of which enable the clubbers to earn extra Awana bucks. The calendar that is on this website has all the nights and their special features listed.
